Not that long ago, homosexuals were called degenerates and sex between people of the same sex was considered a perversion and a mental health issue.
Bondage and Sadomasochism were once thought of as perverted and demeaning.
Polygamy, prostitution, group sex and even sex outside of marriage were all "taboo" subjects but everything I've mentioned are now part of mainstream movies and TV shows.

I don't think of kinks as "perversions". More like temporary urges sometimes. Some days regular straight porn satisfies those urges while others I find myself seeking the taboo.
