I watched about five buddies join he Marines and march off to Vietnam. I would have been the sixth. but by that time no one had heard from the first, the second was dead, the third and fourth were back, saying they'd take me to Canada themselves before they'd let me go, and the fifth was standing on a trip wire.

No I don't give a fuck if it is all volunteer. You don't ask people to run down gun barrels and die for no reason or forget them because they didn't die once they did.

 

Sounds like you are speaking from experience, but I hate to tell you, being the pivot man at a gay orgy and singing "In the Navy" as your passed around does not qualify as military service.

Just checking. They can say what they want about tunnel rats. But those door gunners never lost that thousand yard stare to this very fucking day.

 

I've worked with a lot of different combat vets down at the VA, they all have the stare.

 

False accusations have always been a slippery slope and are a fact of life in any situation but I would hope that a woman in the military is more disciplined then to make such harmful accusations without merit ... but I fear that there are cases of vindictive behavior there as well. Still all accusations need to be thoroughly examined to make sure that no-one slips through the cracks due to a woman's fear to testify.

Footnote: woman are not squeeky clean by any means and there are many cases in Iraq of female misconduct toward both sexes with instances or both rape and torture.

I'm really surprised this is news...what do you think is going on over there? You really think we are restoring democracy? BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. One of the most humbling experiences of my life was taking a buddy of mine down to the VA Hospital in Denver and I wasn't even in there 20 minutes. But it sure drove home what "sacrifice" really means and what we owe our troops.
