I voted a couple of hours ago. I feels good to get past that. Now I can ignore all the political ads.

Still, my ballot had every level of government on it; federal, state, county, and local. Voting was for regular politicians, judges, referenda and amendments. I studied my sample ballot yesterday but still got confused by the real ballot. I think it took 30 minutes from entry to exit, and there was no line when I arrived. I can't wait for this election to be over.

 

If you're trying to feed something specific to one of your cats, that cat will ignore it, but all the other cats will want to eat it.

Just got back from meetup watch party. Overall it went well. Chiefs won 27 to 20. Got to see regulars and meet a few new people. Chatted with a few women that I met in the past. Found out I might be hosting next Monday.

It's been great. No chores beyond cleaning my air fryer, just having steak for breakfast, a burger for lunch and watching great movies.

I finished up '6 Bullets,' probably the best Jean-Claude Van Damme movie since his heyday (Time Cop, Universal Soldier). It had a huge emotional impact as an earnest examination of international sex trafficking, with maybe JCVD's best dramatic performance - and plenty of kick-ass action. Very satisfying.


Next came the STUNNING directorial debut of one of the most endearing actresses in the business today - the star of the film - the always fabulous Anna Kendrick. 'Woman of the Hour' (on Netflix) is a masterpiece of storytelling by both writer Ian McDonald and Kendrick as director, who chose expertly in the way the story would be told on film.

A fictionalized account of the true story of 'The Dating Game Killer' Rodney Alcala, it mostly follows facts, but is embellished when Kendrick is playing the The Dating Game contestant versus Bachelor #3 (Alcala).

It never loses you as it jumps through different times (all clearly identified), and the story unfolds with almost unbearable mounting tension - like a long musical prelude and dissonance before a very satisfying conclusion.

I don't want to see less of her as an actress, but hopefully, with this amazing, superlative film, we will see much more as an insightful director as well. A FUCKING PLUS PLUS PLUS!



Next, episode one of the Netflix Series 'The Night Agent' starring Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan. AWESOME start, from the first intense sequence. The story unfolds grudgingly, but with real intrigue as we get little breadcrumbs that will hopefully lead us to why this is all going on - and plenty of action along the way.

Loving the fuck out of it so far!


Having a fine Sunday so far...

 

It was a normal day.

Handled calls till noon then was off till 4 pm to work cases.

I’m laying on couch watching Superman and Lois.

I’ve received got no responses on past job interviews for over a week. It’s not looking good but not surprised one bit.

 

Picked up a nail in a tire.

Not enough tread left on it to patch it.

One set of new tires, coming up.

(They were getting worn anyway, but I was hoping to get another six months out of them.)

 

I had an MRI yesterday for my knee. It wasn’t pleasant. I can’t believe with all our technology that we still have to use this massive, oppressive 10 tons of metal with a hole in the middle and we insert ourselves into it while we magnetize our bodies lol. It seems like something out of a B sci-fi movie.

 

Oh, it can be such fun to do an MRI.
If, that is, one has a sense of humor.
And if the operator has a sense of humor.
Especially if the operator has a sense of humor.
Kind of a requirement, in fact, the operator's sense of humor.

So a couple of things one can do;
1) First, check the operator's sense of humor; ask them if there could be a problem because of your "magnetic personality". Guage how far you're willing to go based on their response. No humor, best just get things done as fast as possible. A smile, pick something middle of the road (item 2). A funny quip back (not a problem, we'll put your personality back after we turn the machine off tonight) go for broke.

2) Take a marker in the machine (no worries, there isn't any metal in a magic marker) with you and draw

Or for bonus points, write the name of your operator, a fake phone number and "sucks dick for $5".

3) If you have an operator with a good sense of humor, when they start the machine, start kicking and screaming like a girl, shouting "STOP! STOP!!!!!". When the panicked operator stops the machine and asks, what's wrong, DO NOT ANSWER. Remain perfectly still. Make them come into the room, roll you out, and ask what's wrong? Then you can tell them you have to pee or something. Or, you can just say "I wanted to know you really cared".
4) Bonus points; when the procedure is over and they roll you out, talk gibberish or in a foreign language, grin like a clown and drool, drag one side of your body like you've had a stroke, and keep pointing to their chest. When they look down, pop them in their nose with your finger and proclaim "GOTCHA!"

Run out cackling.

 

My day positively sucked. And it's not over. I have more work I have to do before I go to bed.

Found out I will be hosting watch party this coming Monday and music event next month. I have a meetup event tomorrow afternoon.

 

Today was chill. I hung out with the kid. I made chili in the show cooker and it turned out perfect! Then I had a movie date! We watched Green Book which I’ve seen before but really like.

 

Second sucky day in a row.

Just got back from meetup event and it went well. Got to chat regulars have haven’t seen in while, women I met from past night club event (got compliment from her on my dance skills). Have an appt to have someone see dog within week at park and have someone look at her paws. Got to chat with a regular and got her number for possible events in the future.

Today was pretty chill. My kid is sick so I got a bunch of meds for him and took care of him. I did some side work and watched Netflix.

I love staycations!

 

Apparently I pissed off the powers that be, but I cant see what they're whining about so I guess I'm gunna keep on gunna

 

I believe the suckage has ended for the week.

I’m sitting on couch. I will be playing Alan Wake 2 since it’s Halloween.



I need a spooky game to get into the mood. I will open door as soon as Sun goes down.

 

I was a vegetable all day. I didn’t do a damn thing and I don’t feel guilty about it lol.

My kid will be home from work soon and we are ordering in Chinese food. I do miss the little kiddies coming to my door
